Simple and Effective Gift Bags from Handmade Paper

Handmade Sloshy Lokta Paper

The Sloshy Lokta paper used for this bag is handmade in Nepal. It is a light-weight natural lokta based paper that has different coloured pulps ‘sloshed’ over its surface, leaving a trail of intermingled colours. The potential for stitch, book covers and card craft is unlimited.

These lovely little bags are so easy to make! We found this simple template on the internet at 'About: Family Crafts' and couldn't wait to have a go. If you would like to print the full version of the template, you can visit their site (the web page will open is a separate window).

Template from 'About: Family Crafts'

We used colourful handmade Lokta paper to make these bags before decorating them. We used a Gold skeleton leaf for the cobalt blue Lokta paper bag, an Angelina fibre bow for the white Lokta paper bag and Wisteria coloured Angelina 'paper' for the Hot Fuchsia Lokta paper bag. The bags could be decorated further with paper string or stamps.

Tiger Animal Print Rag Paper Bag

This bag would be ideal as a party gift bag. It has been made from our Animal Print Rag Paper which is available in 6 designs and comes in sheets 56cm x 80cm - big enough to make lots of bags!
