Here
we celebrate the versatility of fibres and how they can be
manipulated for making cloth for clothing, furnishings and
decoration. Learn how to felt a wool fibre, or to spin it into
a yarn for knitting, crochet or weaving. Needle felt
glossy silk fibres, spin into luxurious yarn, or 'glue' them
together with CMC medium to create highly textured silk paper.
The plant fibres lend themselves to traditional hand paper
making, and can be spun to produce a soft, strong yarn
for knitting. crochet or weaving.
The protein fibres, which include wool, silk
and hair, can be dyed using the range of acid dyes, while the
cellulose fibres, such as cotton, bamboo and flax are dyed
using Procion MX dyes, find
out more about the craft of dyeing..
